We decide how your information is used. In EU and UK terms, we are the controller.
This site on its own.
Browsing needs no account, and there are no ad or analytics trackers. Our host keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses. If you pick a theme, your browser stores that choice on your device and we never see it.
When you send a story.
We keep only what the form asks for: the channel, the story, a link if you add one, your email, a name to credit if you give one, and a record of what you agreed to, plus a reference code, the time we received it, its status, and automatic spam signals (for example, whether the email looks disposable). We don't ask for phone numbers, home addresses, or photos.
Age check: we ask your birth month and year only to check that you're 18 or older. We don't store them. We only record that the check passed, and when.
Where it's kept: privately, in a database only the studio can access. We don't email it around, we don't sell it, and we don't share it for advertising. We're based in the United States, so your information is processed there.
While you type, your browser keeps a copy of the channel and the story on your device while the tab is open, so a reload doesn't lose them. We never see that copy.
Spam: your IP address, and a scrambled code of your email, are used to limit how many stories and sign-ups one connection can send. They're kept only as scrambled codes, for up to 24 hours, and never saved with your story.
We use this to consider your story, to adapt it under the story terms, to keep a record of what you agreed to, to prevent abuse, and to meet legal duties. We read every story, but we can't reply to each one, and sending one doesn't mean we'll use it, credit you, or pay you.
Legal bases (EU and UK): the terms you accepted (contract), your consent (the email list), spam prevention and record keeping (legitimate interests), and legal obligations.
Sensitive details (health, religion, sexuality, and similar) about you or anyone else: leave them out unless the story needs them. We never publish them in a way that identifies a private person.
People in your story: don't include other people's private details, such as full names, addresses, or contact details, without their permission. We may change names and other details to protect privacy or for storytelling, and EverythingDVD stories can be adapted into original fiction. If you're in someone's story and want it removed, contact us.
Photos: we don't accept them right now.
When you sign up for the email.
We store your email, when you signed up, which news you asked for, and that the age check passed. We use it for studio news and nothing else. We ask your birth month and year only to check that you're 16 or older, and we don't store them.
Confirmation: before we send any news, we'll email you once with a link to confirm your address. You're only on the list once you click it. If you don't click within 30 days, we delete your address. Until that email goes out, we keep your address for up to 12 months, then delete it.
Unsubscribe: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your address at any time.

Your rights.
You can ask to see, correct, delete, or download your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. Email hello@cubedvd.com from the address you used, with your reference code if you sent a story, and we'll act on your request as the law requires. EU and UK residents can also complain to their local data protection authority. Some US states give similar rights, and we honor these requests wherever you live.
Children.
Story submissions are for people 18 and older. The email is for people 16 and older. If we learn we've received information from someone younger, we delete it.
Cookies.
One, and only if the age check doesn't pass: a cookie that blocks the form you didn't pass (both forms if it was the email check) from that browser for 24 hours. Your browser also remembers this in session storage while the tab is open. Nothing else.
Security.
Submissions are kept private, access is limited, and they're encrypted in transit. No system is perfect. If something goes wrong, we'll tell you when the law requires it.
Changes.
We'll post updates here with a new date.
