Story submission terms.

These terms apply when you send a story to CubeDVD ("we", "us") for HumanDVD (true stories) or EverythingDVD (dog stories). By checking the box and pressing Send story, you agree to them.

1 Who can send a story.

You must be 18 or older. If you're younger, a parent or guardian can send it for you.

2 No reply, use, credit, or payment is promised.

Sending a story is free and voluntary. We read every story, but we can't reply to each one. Sending a story doesn't mean we'll reply, use it, credit you, or pay you, and it doesn't create an implied contract to pay you or to use your story. If we ever offer something for a particular story, it will only be in a separate written agreement signed by us.

3 We might not use your story.

We can only turn a small number of stories into videos. We decide which ones, and we don't have to use yours or explain why.

4 Similar stories.

Many stories are alike, especially dog stories. We may already be working on, or may later make, something similar to yours, from our own ideas or someone else's. That doesn't mean we used yours, and you won't be owed anything for it. Sending a story doesn't create a confidential or special relationship between us. We still protect your personal details as the privacy notice explains.

5 Permission to adapt your story.

You keep owning your story and can tell it anywhere. By sending it, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to use it, and anything you send with it, to make, publish, and promote animated videos, to make related material such as titles, thumbnails, descriptions, clips, captions, and translations, on any platform. We may pass this permission on to the platforms we publish on and to companies that help us make and distribute our videos, and we may transfer it to a successor if the studio changes hands. Once we start making a video under it, this permission is perpetual and can't be taken back. Until then you can withdraw it (section 8).

6 How we may change it.

Our videos are adaptations, not documentaries. A story may be dramatized and simplified. We may shorten your story, change names, places, dates, and other details, combine it with other material, add scenes or dialogue, change how people and animals look, or tell it from a different point of view. For true stories, we change names and identifying details so private people aren't easily recognized. EverythingDVD stories can be adapted into original fiction. We may describe a video as "based on a true story" or "sent in by a viewer." As far as the law allows, you agree not to object to these changes and not to require us to name you.

7 What you promise.

It's true to the best of your knowledge, and you didn't copy someone else's writing. It happened to you, or the people it's mainly about said you can share it, or it was already public. For dog stories, it's your dog, the owner said you can share it, or it was already in the news. You haven't included other people's private details, such as full names, addresses, phone numbers, or health information, without their permission. Nothing you send is illegal, threatening, or meant to unfairly harm someone's reputation, and nothing that could identify a child.

8 Changing your mind.

You can withdraw your story any time before we start making a video from it. Email hello@cubedvd.com from the address you used, with your reference code, and we'll delete it. We may ask you to agree to a short release for that specific story. Once work on a video has started, we can't undo it. If you or someone in the story has a serious concern after a video is published, contact us and we'll review it in good faith.

9 Credit.

If you leave the credit name blank, we won't name you. If you give one, we may use it, but credit isn't guaranteed.

10 Stay safe.

We will never ask you for money, bank or card details, or passwords, and we'll never ask you to pay to have a story made. If we ever need to confirm who you are, we'll only do it by email from an @cubedvd.com address. If someone claiming to be us asks for any of that, it isn't us.

11 Your information.

The privacy notice explains what we collect, where it's kept, and how long we keep it. Stories we don't use are deleted within 24 months.

12 The legal bits.

Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms, plus any separate release you agree to for a specific story, are the whole agreement about your submission. We may update these terms. The version you agreed to applies to the story you sent.
